NaNoWriMo

by Andrea

This is me, publicly committing to participate in and finish, yes, finish NaNoWriMo.

I’m excited and scared and then also some more scared. Here’s my page so you can be my writing buddy or send me encouragement and tell me I’m the best thing since Samuel Langhorn Clemens or make fun of my puerile writing style, whatever makes you happy.

Ok, I’m like WOW trippin’ on Ambien CR so it’s time for this little piggy to go to bed. I just want to apologize to anybody who may have been the recipient of an Ambien phone call, letter, email, etc. They should make a sleeping pill that makes you clean the house while you sleepwalk. Or EXERCISE! How about it, science?

Confessions of a Shopaholic

by Andrea

I treated myself to a matinee viewing of Confessions of a Shopholic today, and I have to say, I thoroughly enjoyed it. I laughed out loud more than once, Isla Fisher is adorable, Hugh Dancy is tousled and charming and English, and above all it was COLORFUL.

I’ve been craving a shot of color in the worst way. Here’s my artistic interpretation of what Alaska looks like in February:

Ok, so I live in a house, not an igloo, but you get my point. The movie was fun and fluffy and a glorious way to distract myself for a few hours. Now, if I may be permitted to rant and rave a little about something that is neither fun, nor glorious…

Do you know what a medium soda and popcorn costs these days? $11.75!!! For my international readers, that’s  €9.32, £8.24, $18.39 AU! That’s not only insane, it’s HIGHWAY ROBBERY. I am resisting the urge to add many more exclamation points! For $11.75 I could have a nice dinner at any number of restaurants here in Anchorage. But at the movie theatre, all $11.75 will buy you is a lukewarm, watered-down Coke and a bucket of rubbery popcorn that smells like rancid grease and stale cologne (don’t ask me, ask Regal Cinemas).

For what they’re charging you’d think they could sell popcorn that doesn’t taste like icky caca.

Picasso reborn… kinda.

by Andrea

I was browsing some new blogs today, when I happened upon a new one that I quite liked, The Mux Stops Here. When I saw Margeaux’s creation from mrpicassohead.com, I had to try it myself. Here’s my self-portrait:

That was fun. Also, I’m clearly an amazing artist. Don’t be jealous.
