I have this problem where I don’t say what I think. If you know me at all, you are going WHAAAT? This is because I am sort of a loudmouth. But I promise, I bite my tongue a lot. A LOT. And I do it to keep the peace.

Truth be told, I don’t like talking politics with people who don’t agree with me. It’s a waste of time.  I won’t change their mind, they won’t change mine– why get my blood pressure up?

And I DEFINITELY don’t like talking about politics at work. Mostly because my coworkers don’t agree with me, but also because it’s just really dumb to have heated conversations like that at your place of work. It’s unprofessional. Especially if you don’t agree with me.

But the other night when a coworker called Glenn Beck’s show “the news” I had to protest. I had to. Propoganda? Sure. Fear-mongering? Yes. Lowbrow entertainment? Certainly. But not news.

And then somebody said that I was “brainwashed by the liberal media.” And that hurt my feelings. It hurt my feelings and I didn’t even bother sticking up for myself because the conversation had already made me so supremely uncomfortable.

First off? The media in this country is not particularly liberal. I promise. If it were, it wouldn’t piss me off so much. And second, I’m not brainwashed. My critical thinking skills are AWESOME. Just because you don’t like what I have to say doesn’t mean that I’m brainwashed.

So um… that’s what I’ll say next time… I guess what I’m trying to say is that I want to be even more of a loudmouth. Or rather, a woman who is confident enough to express her opinions. And I have so, soooo many lovely opinions to share.
