Copenhagen Cycle Chic

I am absolutely in love with this website.

I’m struck by how hardcore those Danes are. There they are, riding about Copenhagen, no heed for rain, sleet, or snow. I’ll ride a bike in the summer, but in the snow? Forget it.
I think maybe it helps to live in a city that is bicycle and pedestrian friendly. Anchorage has miles and miles of trails through the woods that are wonderful in the summer, but in the winter, more often than not, the sidewalks in the city are covered with snow. Also, it’s cold. Which is why I own a car.
The only time I’ve relied on a bike for transportation was when I lived in Utah. I couldn’t afford a car, and the bike was a great way to get around. The only problem was that Provo has the scariest drivers in the world (worse than Mexico City, even) and people kept trying to run me over. Which was problematic, as you can imagine. Nonetheless, I braved the crazy drivers… until it got too cold, when I switched to the bus.

So I look at these Danes with the utmost respect, because not only do they bike year-round, but they look so darn cute doing it. I am impressed and not a little jealous.

  1. bike riding… great for those thighs and buttocks… but seriously i could never look that hot on a bike. well i would look hot, but not in a good way. E’s last blog post..my week off.... day 1

  2. I completely agree. I have no coordination for bike riding. The last time I was on one, I was in Japan being chased by made sushi-eating deer. I kid you not. Which was bad because every sharp corner I came across, I had to hop off the bike and wheel it around and hurriedly hop back on. I just didn't think I could make it around the corner on two wheels! ondressingup’s last blog post..i didn't mean to drop off!
