Gossip Girl v. Rebelde

The blogosphere is burning up with posts about Gossip Girl and how cute the uniforms are. It reminds me of one of my favorite shows of all time, Rebelde. It’s about a group of spoiled teenagers at a private boarding school in Mexico City who form a band despite the fact that they all hate each other. In the first episode, Miguel almost throws Mia over a cliff, and she later pulls a knife on him. Diego’s dad hires him a hooker because he thinks it will nip Diego’s homosexuality in the bud. It makes Gossip Girl look like Happy Days. And of course, they have some rocking uniforms.

Ok fine, so they’re not as classy as Gossip Girl. Whatevs.

Maybe Gossip Girl wins for fashion. But Rebelde has something that Gossip Girl doesn’t: MUSICAL NUMBERS. Lots of musical numbers. Which, of course, is exactly what every American soap opera is lacking.

Un beso. sertonina’s last blog post..animal print

  4. I have never seen Gossip Girl but I was a little addicted to Rebelde =P I watched it on spanish channels but I when I moved to another country I lost them so I can't follow rebelde anymore. Well, sometimes I go to youtube and I use to spend hours watching fan clips, or episodes...it sounds a little awkward but I really really really loved it and sometimes I wished I could follow it again. * Maria’s last blog post..Like you

  5. Hello's...How are you love? Your comment made me smile, I shall post up the progress of art just for you a special request haha, keep in mind its not completed yet haha ;) Its on such a massive scale, I fear I maybe have been a bit too ambitious!? I've got 4 projects on the go and I'm getting all confused! You know I've not watched gossip girl (slap my hand haha) as I'm very lazy with the tv and have not updated to all those extra/ digital channels. I did see a really awful program 'reality' (supposedly anyways?) called 'hills' or 'the hills' I don't know...god it was shit! Peace and Buttons... Prettyneons X PS...I shall you tube those tv programs :)

  6. you know, Rebelde exists too here in Portugal, an adaptition of the mexican one. But I really don't like it haha. Gossip Girl is so much better, and not only because it's more stylish, well I can't say why but Rebelde sucks for me (altough I've never seen the mexican version of it). xx Raquel’s last blog post..Stroll through Coimbra
